Wedding Photography Frequently Asked Questions

Below are a list of some common questions asked regarding my wedding photography. Hopefully the following information will be helpful but if you can’t find what you are looking for please get in touch.

How many weddings do you photograph in a day?

Only one. I cover everything from preparations through to the evening function and first dance. This ensures you get full coverage of your day working to your timescale.

How far do you travel?

As a photographer in Swansea, the majority of my work is based in South and West Wales, however I regularly cover weddings throughout the UK. Travel expenses only apply if overnight accommodation is required, prices are quoted on an individual basis.

How long does it take to receive our wedding photographs?

I aim to edit your images in around 3-4 weeks from the date of your wedding, although during busy periods of the year this can take up to 6 weeks. If you are ordering albums, these take around 3-6 weeks to arrive from date of ordering.

Do we choose our album images?

Yes, of course. Whilst some couples are happy for me to take full control of creating their wedding album most choose to pick their own images. I can offer advice as to what images work well together but you can have as much input into the design process as you wish.

How do friends and relatives view and order prints?

With access to online galleries your images can be ordered in a range of products from a secure password protected site. Alternatively you can order directly from myself quoting the image number from your wedding images provided.

Can images be retouched?

All images used in both your wedding slideshow and album are edited to provide you with the best quality images. In addition to this I can often open eyes or remove blemishes from an image as necessary.

Do you shoot both colour and black & white images?

All photographs are initially taken in colour. At the editing stage I then decide which images work well as black & white photos. Any image shown in colour however can easily be presented in black & white on request.

How many photographers attend each wedding?

You can choose to have either myself or both myself and my additional photographer at your wedding. Whilst there is an additional fee for an extra photographer, if you are having a large wedding with over 150 guests, to ensure we capture as much of the action as possible it may be advisable.

How long do you keep images for?

Your images are backed up and stored both online as well as on External Hard Discs. These are kept for the life of the discs. Online galleries are active for a minimum of 12 months.

What happens if it rains?

Unfortunately we can’t always rely upon the British weather to provide perfect sunny days, however, this is not a problem. Every year I deal with all manner of weather and lighting conditions and you simply adapt to your surroundings. This may mean taking some images inside at the church or wedding venue, or if you are feeling brave grabbing an umbrella and your wellies for some fun shots.

Do you have professional insurance?

Absolutely, I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance. In addition I also carry backup camera equipment in case of a technical problem on the day.

What happens if you fall ill?

This is a common concern when booking your wedding photographer. In 15 years of photographing weddings this has never been an issue, however, in such a situation I would take every step to ensure your wedding is covered by another professional photographer. By working closely with colleagues over the years it is understood that in such circumstances there is always someone on hand to help.
