Hello and welcome, I’m Gareth Jones.

If you are currently planning a wedding, congratulations and thank you for showing an interest in my work.

I wanted to give a brief introduction to my backgrounding in photography and filmmaking and give you a better idea of my style.

My Background

I’m based in South Wales and have been a full time wedding photographer and wedding filmmaker for just over 20 years. I’ve documented well over 500 weddings and have worked at most venues throughout the Wales and the UK. Usually I do around 40 weddings per year.

If you want to know a little more about me check out my about page.

My Style

When you’re looking at different wedding photographers and videographers you may see a wide range of styles. My personal style is best described as ‘documentary’ focused.

Documentary, reportage, photojournalistic or candid wedding photography basically mean the same thing. In simple terms it can often mean taking pictures when people aren’t looking. Take a look at my how to choose a photographer guide which goes a little deeper on styles.

My aim on a wedding day is to capture moments throughout the day that document things as they happen, naturally, without you being aware that a camera is on you.

I firmly believe that whilst your wedding photos are important, your wedding day is about so much more. I genuinely want you to experience your day, celebrating with your family and friends, not just spend your time staring at a camera lens or posing for photos - ultimately it’s a wedding not a photo shoot.

For this reason I focus on capturing as much of your day as possible in my documentary style of work. However, I also mix in a collection of classically styled wedding portraits.

These don’t take long and nothing is too posed or forced. They are simple, relaxed photos that you can look back on in years to come that will act as a reminder of an incredible day.

Whether capturing photos or video footage, my approach is to have a fun relaxed style of work that gets the best out of my clients, making people feel comfortable so they can enjoy the experience of having their wedding photos taken.

As you can see in my images, I capture real moments as they happen. When it comes to couple photos for instance, I often call these semi posed situations. In that I may set up a scene and document what happens without to much interference or direction.

It’s important that the whole process feels effortless, keeping things easy and enjoyable.

"Thank you so much for working so hard to get us our photos, they are amazing. Especially for two people that aren't comfortable in front of the camera!" – Ruby & Richard
"Thank you for absolutely everything! The pictures are amazing and to our absolute surprise we really enjoyed having them taken, of which was all down to you!" – Brendan & Ceri

Pre Shoot

Pre wedding photos are easily one of the best things you can do ahead of the wedding day to get rid of any nerves or uncertainty surrounding your photography.

I feel really strongly about this and always include it totally free off charge with all photography collections.

What is a pre shoot?

We usually catch up a couple of months ahead of the wedding and get a little practice in front of the camera. Based in South Wales there is an abundance of fantastic locations available around Gower that offer the perfect backdrop for some relaxed, fun photos.

I provide a few tips and advice and we also get to know each other a little better which helps make the whole process easier. This process is fantastic at building confidence and getting you wedding day ready. I have made a full guide on preshoots that you can check out.

This also includes a short video trailer to illustrate how well the photo and film collections compliment each other. I personally think that pre wedding photos are a must and really provide an added level of confidence and reassurance that getting great wedding photos is not something to be worried about.
